crys cole (CA)
We’re so happy to present crys cole, a Canadian sound artist currently based in Berlin who works in composition, performance and sound sculpture/installation. Often working with haptic gestures and seemingly mundane materials, she creates subtle, texturally nuanced works that continuously retune the ear.
Her first visit to Oslo was at the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter in 2011 when her long-time collaborator Oren Ambarchi was working there. That’s also where they recorded their first duo LP. She hasn’t been to Norway since 2013, when she played at the legendary Brugata and in Ambarchi’s Knots Ensemble at Blå.
She has ongoing duos with Oren Ambarchi (AU) and with James Rushford (AU) under the name Ora Clementi, and has collaborated with many other artists over the years including Francis Plagne (AU), Leif Elggren (SW), Tetuzi Akiyama (JP), Seiji Morimoto (DE), Jessika Kenney (US), David Rosenboom (US), Annea Lockwood (US/NZ) and Keith Rowe (UK).
Her work has been exhibited in Canada, Russia, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, the UK and Thailand.
