Hearing Naoko Sakata play is something else. Her solo album from 2021 «Dancing Spirits» consist of seven improvisations, recorded in Annedalskyrkan in Gothenburg, released on Anna von Hausswolff’s label Pomperipossa Records.
She says «when I sit down in front of the piano, I disappear as a person. My body transfers the music I’m hearing in my head. There are no restrictions to my creation, and I follow no rules as to how the music should be expressed. It’s at the same time something natural and very spiritual, holy and wild, something that exist in a moment in time, and only then, until it disappears forever.».
