Jennifer Gersten talks to Sidsel Endresen
'The most important thing for me is that you explore and challenge yourself. If you want to be an artist, you're on a research journey your whole life' - Sidsel Endresen
One of the highlights at this year's festival for the festival team is this talk.
Sidsel Endresen is a beloved vocalist, improviser, explorer and teacher. She has been called Norway's queen vocalist many times, guided by her curiosity she has kept exploring throughout her whole carreer.
She experienced a big commercial success as a jazzpop-vocalist in Jon Eberson Group early in her carreer, but she's maybe more known for her innovation in vocal improvisation and contemporary free improvisation. She is internationally recognized as a pioneer in exploration of the voice and improvisation with text fragments and dadaist phrases.
